B1653/35 - Seat Position Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The seat position airbag sensor circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and the seat position airbag sensor.

DTC B1653/35 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the seat position airbag sensor circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC

(a) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.





(b) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(c) Turn the engine switch off.

(d) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(e) Check the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B1653/35 is not output.

HINT
Codes other than DTC B1653/35 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly, seat position airbag sensor and front seat inner belt assembly LH.

OK:

The connectors are properly connected.

NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS, THEN GO TO STEP 1
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT (OPEN)

(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the seat position airbag sensor.





(b) Using a service wire, connect Q32-14 (DSP+) and Q32-13 (DSP-) of connector "B".

NOTICE:
Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT (SHORT)

(a) Disconnect the service wire from connector "B".





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (OPEN)
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+)

(a) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.





(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





NG -- CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (SHORT)
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND)

(a) Turn the engine switch off.





(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (SHORT TO B+)
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly and the seat position airbag sensor.





(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(d) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(e) Turn the engine switch off.

(f) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(g) Check the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B1653/35 is not output.

HINT
Codes other than DTC B1653/35 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- REPLACE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR

OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

8. REPLACE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Replace the seat position airbag sensor Removal.

HINT
Perform inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

9. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.





(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(c) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(d) Turn the engine switch off.

(e) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Check the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B1653/35 is not output.

HINT
Codes other than DTC B1653/35 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

OK -- END

10. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (OPEN)

(a) Disconnect the floor wire No. 2 from the front seat inner belt assembly LH.





HINT
The service wire has already been inserted into connector B.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2

OK -- REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

11. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (SHORT)

(a) Disconnect the floor wire No. 2 from the front seat belt inner belt assembly LH.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2

OK -- REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

12. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (SHORT TO B+)

(a) Turn the engine switch off.





(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Disconnect the floor wire No. 2 from the front seat inner belt assembly LH.

(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(e) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(f) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2

OK -- REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

13. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (SHORT TO GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the floor wire No. 2 from the front seat belt inner belt assembly LH.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2

OK -- REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH
