B2799 - Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when one of the following occurs: 1) the ECM detects an error in its own communication with the ID code box; 2) the ECM detects an error in the communication lines; or 3) the ECU communication ID between the ID code box and ECM is different when an engine start is attempted. Before troubleshooting this DTC, make sure that no certification ECU DTCs are present. If present, troubleshoot the certification ECU DTCs first.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT

(a) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) Recheck for DTCs.

OK:

DTC B2799 is not output.

NG -- RE-REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID

OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

2. RE-REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID

(a) Re-register the ECU communication ID Engine Immobilizer System.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT

(a) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) Recheck for DTCs.

OK:

DTC B2799 is not output.

NG -- CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR

OK -- END (ECU COMMUNICATION ID WAS INCORRECT)

4. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the ECM and the ID code box.

OK:

Connectors are properly connected.

NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ID CODE BOX - ECM)

(a) Disconnect the J69 ID code box and A6 ECM connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. REPLACE ECM

(a) Replace the ECM.

Removal for 2GR-FSE)

Removal for 4GR-FSE)

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

7. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID

(a) Register the ECU communication ID Engine Immobilizer System.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

8. CHECK DTC OUTPUT

(a) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) Recheck for DTCs.

OK:

DTC B2799 is not output.

NG -- REPLACE ID CODE BOX Removal

OK -- END (ECM WAS DEFECTIVE)
