Installation





DRIVE SHAFT / PROPELLER SHAFT: FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT LH HOLE SNAP RING (for LH Side)

(a) Install a new front drive shaft LH hole snap ring to the front drive inboard joint assembly LH.

HINT
Face the end gap of the front drive inboard joint hole snap ring downward.

2. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Coat the splines of the inboard joint shaft with ATF WS.

(b) Align the inboard joint splines, and using a brass bar and a hammer, install the front drive shaft assembly LH.

NOTICE:
* Face the end gap of the front drive shaft LH hole snap ring downward.
* Do not damage the hybrid transaxle case oil seal.
* Do not damage the front axle inboard joint boot.
* Make sure to center the front drive shaft assembly LH during installation to prevent damage to the front drive shaft LH hole snap ring.

HINT
Confirm whether the drive shaft is securely driven in by checking the reaction force and sound.

(c) Align the matchmarks and install the front drive shaft assembly LH to the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the front axle outboard joint boot or speed sensor rotor.

3. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Coat the splines of the inboard joint shaft assembly with ATF WS.

(b) Align the shaft splines and securely insert the front drive shaft assembly RH.

NOTICE:
Do not damage the hybrid transaxle case oil seal, inboard joint boot or front drive shaft dust cover.

(c) Install the front drive shaft assembly RH with the 2 bolts.





Torque : 64 Nm (650 kgf-cm, 47 ft-lbf)

(d) Align the matchmarks and install the front drive shaft assembly RH to the front axle hub sub-assembly RH.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the outboard joint boot or speed sensor rotor.

4. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Install the front stabilizer link assembly LH to the front shock absorber LH with the nut.

Torque : 74 Nm (755 kgf-cm, 55 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon wrench (6 mm) to hold the stud.

5. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

6. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Install the lower ball joint to the front No. 1 lower suspension arm sub-assembly LH with the bolt and 2 nuts.





Torque : 92 Nm (938 kgf-cm, 68 ft-lbf)

7. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

8. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Installation

9. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

10. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH

(a) Install the front speed sensor LH to the steering knuckle with bolt B.

Bolt B - Torque : 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf)

NOTICE:
* Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the front speed sensor.
* Be careful not to damage the front speed sensor.

(b) Install the flexible hose LH and front speed sensor LH to the shock absorber with bolt C.

Bolt C - Torque : 19 Nm (192 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.
* Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the front speed sensor.
* Do not twist the sensor wire when installing the front speed sensor.

(c) Install the clamp to the shock absorber.

11. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

12. INSTALL FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE LH

(a) Install the front flexible hose LH with bolt A to the steering knuckle.

Bolt A - Torque : 19 Nm (192 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf)

13. INSTALL FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

14. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB NUT LH

(a) Clean the threaded parts on the front drive shaft assembly LH and axle hub nut LH using a non-residue solvent.

NOTICE:
* Be sure to perform this work for a new front drive shaft assembly.
* Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign matter.

(b) Using a socket wrench (30 mm), install a new front axle hub nut LH.





Torque : 216 Nm (2203 kgf-cm, 159 ft-lbf)

(c) Using a chisel and hammer, stake the front axle hub nut LH.

15. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB NUT RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

16. ADD HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID Procedures

17. INSPECT HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID Procedures

18. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS

Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)

19. ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
