DESCRIPTION

When the mirror defogger switch, which is built into the heater control assembly, is operated, operation signals are transmitted to the A/C amplifier assembly through LIN. When the amplifier assembly receives the signals, it turns on the RR DEF relay to operate the mirror defogger.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK LIN COMMUNICATION LINE

(a) Disconnect the E1 and E3 connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the E1 connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





OK -- CHECK DEFOGGER RELAY
NG -- Continue to next step.

3. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY

(a) Replace the air conditioning control assembly.

4. CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

(a) Turn the engine switch on (IG), press the mirror defogger switch, and check that the mirror defogger operates.

5. CHECK DEFOGGER RELAY

(a) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and press the mirror defogger switch.

(b) Check that operating sound of the RR DEF relay is heard.

6. INSPECT DEFOGGER RELAY

NG -- REPLACE DEFOGGER RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (RR DEF RELAY - BATTERY POSITIVE)

(a) Disconnect the RR DEF relay.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:

Engine room R/B, J/B






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE A/C NO. 2 FUSE, HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (RR DEF RELAY - A/C AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the RR DEF relay and A/C amplifier assembly connector.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY

9. INSPECT DEFOGGER RELAY

NG -- REPLACE DEFOGGER RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

10. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (RR DEF RELAY - BATTERY POSITIVE AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the RR DEF relay.





(b) Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

Engine room R/B, J/B






Standard voltage:

Engine room R/B, J/B






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

11. INSPECT MIR HTR FUSE

(a) Remove the MIR HTR fuse from the instrument panel J/B.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG -- REPLACE MIR HTR FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

12. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ENGINE ROOM R/B, J/B - INSTRUMENT PANEL J/B)

(a) Disconnect the RR DEF relay and instrument panel J/B connector.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

13. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INSTRUMENT PANEL J/B - OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR)

(a) Disconnect the outer rear view mirror and instrument panel J/B connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
