System Description





PARK ASSIST / MONITORING: REAR VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM: SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

1. GENERAL

(a) To assist the driver with parking the vehicle by displaying an image of the area behind the vehicle, this system has a television camera mounted on the back door. The system displays the image on the multi-display*1 or inner rear view mirror assembly*2.

* *2: w/o Navigation System

(b) The rear view monitor system (w/ navigation system (for HDD)) consists of the following components:

(1) Rear television camera assembly

(2) Power management control ECU

(3) Navigation computer sub-assembly

(4) Multi-display

(c) The rear view monitor system (w/o navigation system) consists of the following components:

(1) Rear television camera assembly

(2) No. 1 integration relay

(3) Inner rear view mirror assembly

2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS

3. OPERATION EXPLANATION (w/ Navigation System (for HDD))

(a) The navigation computer sub-assembly receives the reverse signal when power switch is on (READY) and the shift lever is moved to R. After receiving the reverse signal, the navigation computer sub-assembly switches to the rear view monitor system.

4. OPERATION EXPLANATION (w/o Navigation System)

(a) The inner rear view mirror assembly receives the reverse signal when the power switch is on (READY) and the shift lever is moved to R. After receiving the reverse signal, the inner rear view mirror assembly displays the rear view monitor image from the rear television camera assembly. (LED: Green)

HINT
* When the shift lever moves to any position except R, the display is turned off. Also, the display is automatically turned off after continuous operation for 5 minutes.
* When the image from the rear television camera assembly is displayed, the display can be turned off by pressing the AUTO button. (LED: Green -> Amber) The image can be re-displayed by pressing the AUTO button once again. (LED: Amber -> Green)

(b) The operation conditions of the rear view monitor system are as follows:

* Power switch on (READY)

* Reverse (R) is selected

* The LED on the inner rear view mirror assembly is green. (The LED color changes by pressing the AUTO button)

5. DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION

(a) The navigation system has a diagnostic function displayed in the navigation computer sub-assembly (for HDD). This function enables the confirmation of the input signal for reverse Operation Check for HDD).
