B1693/81 - Door Side Airbag Sensor RH Initialization Incomplete (Continued)

43. CHECK CONNECTORS

(a) Turn the power switch off.

(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH and door side airbag sensor RH. Also check that the connectors that link the No. 2 floor wire and front door wire RH are properly connected.

OK:

The connectors are properly connected.

HINT
If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

(d) Disconnect the connectors from the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH and door side airbag sensor RH. Also disconnect the connectors that link the No. 2 floor wire and front door wire RH.

(e) Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

OK:

The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

NG -- REPLACE WIRE HARNESS
OK -- Continue to next step.

44. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT (OPEN)

(a) Connect the connectors that link the No. 2 floor wire and front door wire RH.





(b) Using SST, connect terminals 2 (BDR+) and 1 (BDR-) of connector E.

NOTICE:
Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

SST : 09843-18040

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

45. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT (SHORT)

(a) Disconnect SST from connector E.

47. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND)

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

48. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH

(a) Connect the connectors to the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH.





(b) Interchange the door side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors.

(c) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

(d) Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(e) Clear the DTCs stored in memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(f) Turn the power switch off.

(g) Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(h) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

49. CHECK NO. 2 SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Turn the power switch off.





(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Return the door side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors.

(d) Interchange the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors.

(e) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

(f) Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(h) Turn the power switch off.

(i) Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(j) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

52. CHECK NO. 2 SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Turn the power switch off.





(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Interchange the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

(e) Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTCs stored in memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(g) Turn the power switch off.

(h) Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(i) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
