POWER ASSIST SYSTEMS: POWER STEERING SYSTEM: C1516,C1526: Torque Sensor Zero Point Adjustment Incomplete

DESCRIPTION

These DTCs do not indicate a malfunction. The power steering ECU assembly outputs these DTCs when it determines that rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration are incomplete.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CLEAR DTC

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

2. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT

(a) Initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Programming and Relearning.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

3. RECONFIRM DTC

(a) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Result:

HINT
- *1: The power steering ECU assembly must be replaced if DTCs are still output even after initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point.
- *2: Perform the rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration again if DTCs are still output even after the initialization and calibration is performed 1 or 2 times.

C -- END

B -- PERFORM ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR INITIALIZATION AND TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Programming and Relearning
A -- Continue to next step.

4. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY

(a) Replace the power steering ECU assembly Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

5. CLEAR DTC

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT

(a) Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Programming and Relearning.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

7. RECONFIRM DTC

(a) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Result:

HINT
- *1: The power steering gear assembly must be replaced if DTCs are still output even after initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point.
- *2: Perform the rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration again if DTCs are still output even after the initialization and calibration is performed 2 times.

NOTICE:
If replacing the power steering gear assembly, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Programming and Relearning.

C -- END

B -- PERFORM ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR INITIALIZATION AND TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Programming and Relearning

A -- REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY Removal
