INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Perform the universal trip to clear permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0771, P0776 AND P2714)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.

(e) Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

Result:

HINT
If any other codes besides P0771, P0776 and P2714 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.

C -- GO TO DTC CHART Automatic Transmission System - AA80E

B -- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2
A -- Continue to next step.

2. CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM STALL SPEED TEST

(a) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

HINT
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

(b) Perform the stall speed test Mechanical System Tests.

Result:

B -- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT
A -- Continue to next step.

3. CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM RUNNING TEST

(a) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

HINT
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

(b) Start the engine, drive the vehicle and perform the inspection.

Result:

HINT
*: If the gear is shifted to 5th gear or above, gear shifts will no longer be able to be performed. When performing the test again, first clear the DTCs.

C -- INSPECT SPEED SENSOR TERMINAL (NC3 TERMINAL)

B -- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2
A -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SR

(a) Remove the shift solenoid valve SR Disassembly.

(b) Measure the resistance of the shift solenoid valve.

Standard resistance:

(c) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to the terminal of the solenoid valve connector, and the negative (-) lead to the solenoid body. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound.

OK:

Valve moves and makes operating sound.

OK -- INSPECT TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY

NG -- REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SR Disassembly

5. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2

(a) Remove the shift solenoid valve SL2 Disassembly.

(b) Measure the resistance of the shift solenoid valve.

Standard resistance:

(c) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound.

OK:

Valve moves and makes operating sound.

OK -- INSPECT TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY

NG -- REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2 Disassembly

6. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT

(a) Remove the shift solenoid valve SLT Disassembly.

NG -- REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT Disassembly
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. INSPECT TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the transmission valve body assembly Disassembly.

OK:

There are no foreign objects on any valve.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the torque converter clutch assembly Testing and Inspection.

OK:

The torque converter clutch operates normally.

NG -- REPLACE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY Removal

9. INSPECT SPEED SENSOR TERMINAL (NC3 TERMINAL)

(a) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

Standard voltage:

(d) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

Standard resistance:

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM)
OK -- Continue to next step.

10. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (SPEED SENSOR NC3)

(a) Disconnect the speed sensor (NC3) connector.

(b) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the transmission wire.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE Removal

OK -- REPLACE SPEED SENSOR Removal

11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM)

(a) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

(b) Disconnect the TCM connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

12. REPLACE TCM

(a) Replace the TCM Removal.

NEXT -- PERFORM A/T CODE REGISTRATION Registration
