Disassembly

PROPELLER SHAFT: PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2WD): DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE PROPELLER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT

(a) Put matchmarks on the propeller intermediate shaft and propeller shaft assembly.





(b) Separate the propeller intermediate shaft and propeller shaft assembly.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the spline.

(c) Remove the adjusting nut from the propeller intermediate shaft.

(d) Remove the dust boot from the propeller shaft assembly.





HINT
If the dust boot is to be reused, remove it after wrapping vinyl tape around the spline, so it will not be damaged.

2. REMOVE NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a snap ring expander, remove the propeller shaft No. 2 dust deflector snap ring.





(b) Using SST and a press, press out the No. 1 center support bearing assembly and propeller shaft No. 2 dust deflector.

(c) Using SST and a press, press out the propeller shaft No. 1 dust deflector.
