INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Perform the universal trip to clear permanent DTCs .

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0746 AND P0873)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.

(e) Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

Result:

HINT
If any other codes besides P0746 and P0873 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.

B -- GO TO DTC CHART Automatic Transmission System - AA80E
A -- Continue to next step.

2. READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (TPS 1 SW SIGNAL)

(a) Connect terminals TPS1 and E1 of the TCM connectors.

HINT
Before checking, do visual and contact pressure checks on the TCM connectors.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(d) Turn the Techstream on.

(e) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Data List.

(f) Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

Standard:

NG -- CHECK OIL PRESSURE SWITCH CIRCUIT
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. REPLACE TCM

(a) Replace the TCM .

NEXT -- PERFORM A/T CODE REGISTRATION

4. CHECK OIL PRESSURE SWITCH CIRCUIT

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

HINT
Before checking, do visual and contact pressure checks on the TCM connectors.

(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

Standard resistance:

Result:

B -- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL1
A -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TCM - BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the TCM connector.

(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

Standard resistance:

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM)
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. REPLACE TCM

(a) Replace the TCM

NEXT -- PERFORM A/T CODE REGISTRATION

7. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL1

(a) Remove the shift solenoid valve SL1 .

(b) Measure the resistance of the shift solenoid valve.

Standard resistance:

(c) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound.

OK:

Valve moves and makes operating sound.

NG -- REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL1
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. INSPECT TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the transmission valve body assembly .

OK:

There are no foreign objects on any valve.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the torque converter clutch assembly .

OK:

The torque converter clutch operates normally.

NG -- REPLACE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM)

(a) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

(b) Disconnect the TCM connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

11. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (OIL PRESSURE SWITCH)

(a) Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.

(b) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the transmission wire.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE

OK -- REPLACE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH
