P062D - No. 1 Fuel Injector Driver Circuit Performance
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The D-4S system has 2 fuel injection methods. One is the in-cylinder direct injection method that directly injects pressurized fuel into the combustion chamber. The other is the intake port injection method. The ECM determines which fuel injection method to use in accordance with the engine conditions. For the in-cylinder direction injection method, the injector driver (EDU) in the engine room operates the fuel injectors (for direction injection) at high speeds. The EDU receives fuel injection request signals from the ECM and converts the signals to high voltage / high current injector operation signals to operate the fuel injectors (for direction injection).
The fuel injection sequence occurs in numerical order from No. 1 to No. 6.
The ECM monitors the EDU at all times. If drivers or fuel injectors are malfunctioning, the EDU sends fuel injector operation condition signals (fail signals IJF1 to IJF3) to the ECM. When the ECM receives the signals, the ECM stops the fuel injection control of the appropriate cylinders, cuts voltage to the appropriate injector relay, and illuminates the MIL.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on [A].
6. Start the engine.
7. Idle the engine for 15 seconds or more [B].
8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
9. Read the DTC [C].
HINT
- If a DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If a DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
11. Input the DTC: P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204, P0205, P0206 or P062D.
12. Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
- If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN, perform step [B] again.
13. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
14. Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
15. If the test result is INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
- If the current from the INJ relay is cut because DTC P062D is stored, DTC P1235 will be stored even if the fuel pump for high pressure is normal.
- Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction Freeze Frame Data.
PROCEDURE
1. CLEAR DTC
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
HINT
If DTC P062D is stored, current to the INJ relay will be shut off.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT INJECTOR DRIVER (POWER SOURCE OF EDU)
(a) Disconnect the E54 injector driver (EDU) connector.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
(d) Reconnect the injector driver (EDU) connector.
NG -- INSPECT INTEGRATION NO.1 RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EDU - FUEL INJECTOR FOR DIRECT INJECTION)
(a) Disconnect the I1 and J1 EDU connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(c) Reconnect the EDU connectors.
NG -- INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR FOR DIRECT INJECTION
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - EDU)
(a) Disconnect the E6, E8 and E45 ECM connectors.
(b) Disconnect the E53 injector driver (EDU) connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):
Standard resistance (Check for short):
(d) Reconnect the ECM connectors.
(e) Reconnect the injector driver (EDU) connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. REPLACE INJECTOR DRIVER
(a) Replace the injector driver Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
(e) Read DTCs.

7. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR FOR DIRECT INJECTION
(a) Check the resistance of the fuel injector for direct injection Fuel Injector (for Direct Injection).

OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
8. INSPECT INTEGRATION NO.1 RELAY
(a) Remove the integration relay from the engine room No. 2 junction block.
(b) Inspect the INJ fuse.
(1) Remove the INJ fuse from the integration relay.
(2) Measure the resistance of the INJ fuse.
Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ohms
(3) Reinstall the INJ fuse.
(c) Inspect the INJ relay.
(1) Measure the resistance of the INJ relay.
Standard resistance:
(d) Reinstall the integration relay.
NG -- REPLACE INTEGRATION NO.1 RELAY
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION RELAY - INJECTOR DRIVER)
