P0192
2GR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P0190, P0192, P0193: Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit
P0193 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input
DESCRIPTION
The fuel pressure sensor is installed on the delivery pipe. The sensor changes fuel pressure to an electrical signal and sends the signal to the ECM. Then the ECM controls the feedback of the pump discharge to maintain the fuel's target pressure between 4 and 13 MPa (40.8 and 132.6 kgf/cm2, 580 and 1885 psi). If the sensor output stops, the ECM will stop the fuel pump for high pressure and supply fuel using the low pressure side fuel pump.
The fuel pressure sensor is installed on a fuel delivery pipe and detects the fuel pressure. It controls feedback of the pump discharge in order to keep the fuel within the target pressure range between 4 and 13 MPa (40.8 and 132.6 kgf/cm2, 580 and 1885 psi) by the ECM.
HINT
After confirming DTC P0190, use the Techstream to confirm the fuel pressure in the delivery pipe by selecting the following menu items on the Techstream: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Fuel Press.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
These DTCs are set if the fuel pressure sensor output voltage is out of the standard range. The DTCs stand for an open or short malfunction of the sensor circuit.
If these DTCs are set, the ECM enters fail-safe mode and limits the engine power. Fail-safe mode continues until the engine switch is turned off.

COMPONENT OPERATING RANGE
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
6. Wait 3 seconds or more [A].
7. Start the engine.
8. Idle the engine for 10 seconds [B].
9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
10. Read the DTC [C].
HINT
- If a DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If a DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
11. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
12. Input the DTC: P0190, P0192 or P0193.
13. Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
- If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN, perform step [B] again.
14. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
15. Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
16. If the test result is INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN and no DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction Freeze Frame Data.
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL PRESSURE)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Fuel Press.
(d) Read the values.
Standard pressure:
3000 to 5000 kPa (30.6 to 51 kgf/cm2, 435 to 725 psi)
Result:
HINT
*: The value must change when the engine is running or stopped.
C -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
B -- INSPECT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR
A -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR (VC VOLTAGE)
(a) Disconnect the E72 fuel pressure sensor connector.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
