B279A - Theft Deterrent System Communication Line High Fixation
DESCRIPTION
If the communication line (EFIO-IMI) to the immobilizer code ECU is stuck on HI output, the ECM outputs this DTC.

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT
(a) Recheck for DTC Engine Immobilizer System.
HINT
If any DTCs other than DTC B279A are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
Result:
B -- GO TO DTC CHART Engine Immobilizer System
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IMMOBILIZER CODE ECU - ECM)
(a) for 2GR-FSE:
(1) Disconnect the K58 ECU and A7 ECM connectors.
(2) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(b) for 1UR-FSE:
(1) Disconnect the K58 ECU and A7 ECM connectors.
(2) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK ECM (INPUT)
(a) for 2GR-FSE:
(1) Reconnect the K58 ECU and A7 ECM connectors.
(2) Measure the waveform.
Waveform (Reference):
OK:
Waveform is output normally (see illustration).
(b) for 1UR-FSE:
(1) Reconnect the K58 ECU and A7 ECM connectors.
(2) Measure the waveform.

OK:
Waveform is output normally (see illustration).
NG -- CHECK IMMOBILIZER CODE ECU (POWER SOURCE AND BODY GROUND)
OK -- REPLACE IMMOBILIZER CODE ECU
4. CHECK IMMOBILIZER CODE ECU (POWER SOURCE AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
