B2414 - Steering Position Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The AFS ECU receives signals regarding the swerve-angle from the steering sensor in the steering wheel.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

(c) Select the items below in the DATA LIST, and read the displays on the Techstream.

AFS (AFS ECU)





OK:

Condition sign can be displayed.

Result:





C -- CHECK DTC (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM)

B -- REPLACE AFS ECU

A -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

2. CHECK DTC (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM)

(a) Check the DTC of vehicle stability control system.

OK:

Normal system code is output.

NG -- GO TO FLOW CHART
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION

(a) Check vehicle condition.

Result:





B -- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEERING CONTROL ECU - AFS ECU)
A -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEERING SENSOR - AFS ECU)

(a) Disconnect the K19 steering sensor connector.





(b) Disconnect the A29 AFS ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK AFS ECU

(a) Reconnect the K19 steering sensor connector.





(b) Reconnect the A29 AFS ECU connector.

(c) Measure the voltage of the connector.

Standard voltage:





Result:





C -- REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

A -- REPLACE AFS ECU

6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEERING CONTROL ECU - AFS ECU)

(a) Disconnect the A40 Steering Control ECU connector.





(b) Disconnect The A29 AFS ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK AFS ECU

(a) Reconnect the A29 AFS ECU connector.





(b) Measure the voltage of the connector.

Standard voltage:





Result:





C -- REPLACE STEERING CONTROL ECU

B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
