B2059 - Vehicle Speed Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The from distance control ECU uses the combination meter to send vehicle speed information to the ECM. The ECM and the skid control ECU use CAN communication to send vehicle speed information to the seat belt control ECU. This DTC is stored when the difference between the vehicle speed information from the ECM and the skid control ECU is more than the specified value.





INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
* When the distance control ECU is replaced with a new one, Initialization must be performed Pre-Collision System.
* When the distance control ECU is replaced with a new one, Initialization must be performed Installation.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)

(a) Clear the DTCs Pre-Collision System.

(b) Recheck for DTCs.

OK:

CAN communication system DTC is not output.

NG -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SFI SYSTEM)

(a) Check DTCs for the SFI system (1UR-FSE: Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes, 2GR-FSE: Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

OK:

SFI system DTC is not output.

NG -- GO TO SFI SYSTEM
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM)

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Start the engine.

(c) Drive the vehicle at a speed of 30 km/h (18 mph) or more for at least 60 seconds.

(d) Check DTCs for brake control system (Vehicle stability control system: Vehicle Stability Control System, Electronically controlled brake system: Electronically Controlled Brake System).

OK:

Brake control system DTC is not output.

NG -- GO TO BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.

(e) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the vehicle speed meter.

Combination Meter:





OK:

Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed.

NG -- GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU

(a) Replace the distance control ECU Removal.

(b) Initialize the distance control ECU Installation.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM)

(a) Clear the DTCs Pre-Collision System.

(b) Drive the vehicle.

(c) Recheck for DTCs.

OK:

DTC B2059 is not output.

NG -- REPLACE SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU

OK -- END
