B15C3 - Speaker Output Short

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when a malfunction occurs in the speakers.

WIRING DIAGRAM









INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC

(a) Disconnect the U58 and U56 stereo component amplifier assembly connectors.

(b) Clear the DTCs and recheck for DTCs.

(c) Check if DTC B15C3 is output.

OK:

DTC B15C3 is not output.

NG -- REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK OPERATION

(a) Reconnect the U56 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.

(b) Check if DTC B15C3 is output.

OK:

DTC B15C3 is not output.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

(a) Disconnect stereo component amplifier assembly connector U58.

(b) Disconnect DCM (telematics transceiver) connector K98.

(c) Disconnect speaker connectors M7, M1, K23, K62, O6, O1, S8 and S4.

(d) Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(e) Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(f) Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(g) w/ Manual (SOS) Switch

Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker RH and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(h) Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and the front No. 2 speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(i) Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker LH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(j) w/o Manual (SOS) Switch

Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker RH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(k) w/ Manual (SOS) Switch

Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(l) w/ Manual (SOS) Switch

Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker RH and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(m) Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speakers and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(n) Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speakers and the rear speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER

(a) Resistance check





(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

OK -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER

(a) Resistance check





(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

6. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER

(a) Resistance check





(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

7. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER

(a) Resistance check





(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(b) Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

C -- REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER Removal

8. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER)

(a) Resistance check





(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) Removal

OK -- REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY Removal

9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

(a) Disconnect stereo component amplifier assembly connector U56.

(b) Disconnect speaker connectors U21 and L2.

(c) Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(d) Measure the resistance between the stereo component speaker and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





(e) Measure the resistance between the front stereo component speaker and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

10. INSPECT FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER

(a) Resistance check





(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:
