Applicability

Introduction

Some 2011 model year CT 200h models may exhibit a condition where the front passenger interior door assist grip cover (door pull) becomes loose from the door panel. A newly designed front passenger interior door assist grip cover and repair procedure has been developed to correct this condition. Please follow the procedure in this bulletin to install the updated door assist grip cover.

Repair Procedure





1. Confirm that the door assist grip cover is loose.

A. If the door assist grip cover is loose proceed to Step 2 for door assist cover replacement.

B. If the door assist grip cover is not loose this TSIB does not apply.





2. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the 4 claws and completely remove and discard the door assist grip from the front passenger door panel.

3. Inspect the markings on the underside of the NEW door assist grip cover.





A. If the assist grip cover does not have any markings next to the R indicator proceed to Step 4.





B. If the assist grip cover does have markings next to the R indicator proceed to Step 5.





4. Trim the 4 shoulders on 2 retention clips of the NEW replacement door assist grip as shown in Figure 5.

A. Following the edge of the clips measure 2.0 mm down on the shoulder and mark the plastic as indicated.





B. To trim one shoulder carefully cut parallel to the clip surface until the 2.0 mm mark is intersected (1). Cut along the mark to fully remove the material on the shoulder (2). Continue this process for the remaining 3 shoulders.





5. Engage the guide and 4 claws and install the NEW door assist grip cover.

NOTE

The door assist grip cover, if removed for other repairs, should be replaced after 2 installation and removal cycles.
