Installation





DRIVE SHAFT: REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY: INSTALLATION

HINT
* Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Coat the spline of the inboard joint shaft with gear oil.

(b) Set the shaft snap ring with the opening side facing down.

(c) Align the shaft splines and install the drive shaft assembly with a brass bar and hammer.





NOTICE:
* Set the hole snap ring with the opening side facing downward.
* Be careful not to damage the drive shaft dust cover, boot and oil seal.
* Move the drive shaft while keeping it level.
HINT
Whether or not the inboard joint shaft is in contact with the pinion shaft can be known from the sound or feeling when driving it in.

2. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Attach the spline of the rear drive shaft to the rear axle carrier and insert the rear drive shaft assembly.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot.

(b) Install the rear No. 2 suspension arm to the rear axle carrier.

(c) Align the matchmarks of the camber adjust cam and rear axle carrier, and loosely install the nut.





3. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE

(a) Install the brace with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft-lbf)

4. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Connect the upper control arm to the rear axle carrier, and loosely install a new nut.

5. CONNECT TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Connect the toe control link LH to the rear axle carrier, and install a new nut.

Torque : 59 Nm (602 kgf-cm, 44 ft-lbf)

6. TIGHTEN REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH

Torque : 108 Nm (1,101 kgf-cm, 80 ft-lbf)

7. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Connect the rear suspension arm and loosely install the bolt and a new nut.

8. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect the cable to the backing plate with the 2 bolts.





Torque : 7.8 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 69 in-lbf)

9. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the parking brake Reassembly.

10. INSTALL REAR DISC

11. INSPECT AND ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL

(a) Inspect and adjust parking brake pedal travel Adjustments.

12. CONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect the brake cylinder with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 104 Nm (1,061 kgf-cm, 77 ft-lbf)

13. CONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR

(a) Install the sensor with the bolt.





Torque : 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf)

NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.
* Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor.
* Do not twist the sensor wire when installing the speed sensor.
14. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT

(a) While depressing the brake pedal, install the nut.

Torque : 289 Nm (2,947 kgf-cm, 213 ft-lbf)

(b) Install the lock cap and a new cotter pin.

15. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

(a) Lower the vehicle.

(b) Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.

16. TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

Torque : 110 Nm (1,122 kgf-cm, 81 ft-lbf)

17. TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

Torque : 75 Nm (765 kgf-cm, 55 ft-lbf)

18. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque : 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)

19. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

(a) Inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment Rear Wheel Alignment.

20. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL

(a) Check the ABS speed sensor signal Diagnosis System.
