A761E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: EXTENSION HOUSING REAR OIL SEAL: REPLACEMENT

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE Removal

3. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Sensor 2) Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal

5. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal

6. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR Removal

7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE HEAT INSULATOR Removal

8. REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY Removal

9. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

(a) Remove the drain plug, and gasket and drain the ATF.





(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

Torque : 20 Nm (205 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

10. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLANGE YOKE ASSEMBLY

(a) Using SST and a hammer, loosen the staked part of the nut.

Move the shift lever to the P position.

(b) Set SST.

(c) Using SST and a 30 mm socket wrench, remove the nut.





(d) Remove SST.

(e) Tap the output flange with a plastic-faced hammer to remove it.

(f) Using a screwdriver, remove the oil seal from the automatic transmission flange yoke.





11. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXTENSION HOUSING OIL SEAL

(a) Using SST, tap out the oil seal.

12. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXTENSION HOUSING OIL SEAL

(a) Coat the lip of a new oil seal with MP grease.

(b) Using SST and a hammer, tap in the oil seal.

SST : 09309-37010





Standard depth:

1.8 to 2.2 mm (0.07 to 0.09 in.)

13. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLANGE YOKE ASSEMBLY

(a) Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal.





SST : 09517-36010

(b) Install the automatic transmission flange yoke.

(c) Set SST.

(d) Using SST and a 30 mm socket wrench, install and tighten a new nut.





Torque : 126 Nm (1,285 kgf-cm, 93 ft-lbf)

(e) Using a chisel and hammer, securely stake the nut.

14. INSTALL PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY Installation

15. INSPECT PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY Installation

16. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CABLE HEAT INSULATOR Installation

17. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR Installation

18. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Installation

19. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Installation

20. CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Sensor 2) Installation

21. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE Installation

22. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

23. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

(a) Add automatic transmission fluid Procedures.

24. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

(a) Perform initialization Testing and Inspection.

NOTICE:
Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

25. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKAGE
