SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Be sure to read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing it Service Precautions.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the instrument panel safety pad Removal.

3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR Disassembly

4. REMOVE NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT Disassembly

5. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY Removal

6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE

7. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN Disassembly

8. REMOVE NO. 1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE GARNISH Disassembly

9. REMOVE NO. 1 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT Disassembly

10. REMOVE NO. 2 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT Disassembly

11. REMOVE FRONT DEFROSTER NOZZLE Disassembly

12. REMOVE NO. 1 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT Disassembly

13. REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT Disassembly

14. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT Disassembly

15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT Disassembly

16. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts.





(b) Remove the strap from the bracket.

(c) Remove the 2 screws.

(d) Release the rear side wall of the airbag door from the hook by pulling it slightly. Then roll the airbag forward.





(e) Release the front side wall of the airbag door from the other hook and remove the airbag.
