3UZ-FE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

1. READ DATA LIST

HINT
By reading the Data List displayed on the Techstream, you can check values, including those of the switches, sensors, and actuators, without removing any parts.

Reading the Data List as the first step of troubleshooting is one method of shortening diagnostic time.

NOTICE:
In the table below, the values listed under Normal Condition are for reference only. Do not depend solely on these values when determining whether or not a part is faulty.

(a) Warm up the engine.

(b) Turn the ignition switch OFF.

(c) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(e) Turn the Techstream on.

(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List /

(g) Check the values by referring to the table below.

HINT
If no idling conditions are specified, the transmission gear selector lever should be in the N or P position, and the A/C switch and all accessory switches should be OFF.

HINT
* Normal Condition: If no conditions are specifically stated for "idling", the shift lever is in the N or P position, and the A/C and all accessory switches are OFF.
* *1: Data List values are only displayed when performing the following Active Tests: Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1), Control the VVT Linear (Bank 2). For other Active Tests, the Data List value will be 0.
* *2: Excluding throttle valve opening percentage due to Idle Speed Control (ISC).
2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST

HINT
Performing the Techstream's Active Test allows relay, Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV), actuator and other items to be operated without removing any parts. Performing the Active Test early in troubleshooting is one way to save time. The Data List can be displayed during the Active Test.

(a) Warm up the engine.

(b) Turn the ignition switch OFF.

(c) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(e) Turn the Techstream on.

(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test.

(g) According to the display on the tester, perform the Active Test.

NOTICE:
*1: If the display of the Data List's Catalyst OT MF F/C item is Not Avl, perform this Active Test with the vehicle stopped and the engine idling. If the display of the Data List's Catalyst OT MF F/C item is Avail, perform this Active Test as described below.

* Stop the engine and turn the ignition switch ON to turn Control the Cylinder #1 Fuel Cut (to #8 Fuel Cut) ON.
* Start the engine.
3. SYSTEM CHECK

HINT

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.
