INSEPCTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL GAUGE)

(a) Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the fuel gauge operates.

Combination meter





OK:

The fuel gauge operates normally.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL GAUGE MAIN)

(a) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the fuel gauge.

Combination meter





OK:

Fuel value on the Techstream is almost equal to the needle indication.

NG -- INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY (MAIN)

OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

3. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY (MAIN)





(a) Remove the fuel sender gauge (main).

(b) Measure the resistance between terminals 2 and 3 of the fuel sender gauge connector.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY (MAIN)
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY (SUB)





(a) Remove the fuel sender gauge (sub).

(b) Measure the resistance between the terminals of the fuel sender gauge connector.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY (SUB)
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (GAUGE (MAIN) - GAUGE (SUB))





(a) Disconnect the F15 and F16 gauge connectors.

(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (METER - GAUGE (MAIN) AND GAUGE (SUB))





(a) Disconnect the C8 meter connector.

(b) Disconnect the F15 and F16 gauge connectors.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
