3UZ-FE COOLING: WATER PUMP: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

(a) Install a new O-ring to the water by-pass hose.

(b) Install a new gasket and the water pump with the 5 bolts, 2 stud bolts and nut.

Torque : 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf for bolt)

Torque : 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf for nut and stud bolt)

2. INSTALL WATER INLET HOUSING

(a) Install a new O-ring.

(b) Apply soapy water to the O-ring.

(c) Apply seal packing to the groove of the water inlet housing as shown in the illustration.

Seal packing:

Toyota Genuine seal packing 1282B, Three Bond 1282B or Equivalent

Standard seal diameter:

2 to 3 mm (0.08 to 0.12 in.)

NOTICE:
* After applying seal packing, install the part within 5 minutes.
* Be sure to keep the O-ring away from engine oil. The O-ring must be replaced if it contacts engine oil.
(d) Install the water inlet housing with the 2 bolts.

Bolt length:

Torque : 18 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 24 in-lbf)

(e) Connect the water by-pass hose.

3. INSTALL TIMING BELT

(a) Install the timing belt Installation.

4. INSTALL RADIATOR ASSEMBLY Installation

5. CONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE Installation

6. CONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET TUBE Installation

7. CONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE Installation

8. CONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE Installation

9. ADD ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair

10. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS Testing and Inspection

11. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Installation

12. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE Installation

13. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET

(a) Install the air cleaner inlet with the bolt.

Torque : 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf)

14. INSTALL V-BANK COVER

(a) Install the cover with the 2 nuts.

Torque : 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf)

15. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER

16. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

17. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

(a) Perform initialization Testing and Inspection.

NOTICE:
Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
