BRAKE: REAR BRAKE: DISASSEMBLY
HINT
* Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
* The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. REMOVE CYLINDER BOOT
(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 set rings and boots.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
2. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PISTON
(a) Prepare a wooden block as shown in the illustration.
(b) Place the block between the pistons, and then insert a pad on one side of the wooden block.
(c) Use compressed air to remove the 2 pistons alternately from the cylinder.
CAUTION:
Do not place your fingers in front of the piston when using compressed air.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to spatter the brake fluid.
(d) Remove the brake pad and wooden block.
(e) Temporarily install the disc brake piston that was removed. Then install the disc brake pad to the side in which the disc brake piston was temporarily installed.
(f) Install a wooden block to prevent the pistons from jumping out.
(g) Using compressed air, remove the disc brake piston from the other side of the cylinder.
CAUTION:
Do not place your fingers in front of the piston when using compressed air.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to spatter the brake fluid.
(h) Remove the wooden block, brake pad and the temporarily installed disc brake piston.
3. REMOVE PISTON SEAL
(a) Using a screwdriver, pry out the 2 seals from the cylinder.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the inner cylinder or cylinder groove.
4. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG
5. REMOVE REAR DISC
(a) Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.
(b) Remove the disc.
