Outer Rear View Mirror

MIRROR: OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT OUTER MIRROR ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.









OK:





* If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

(b) w/ Retract Mirror:









(1) For each position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror's movement.

OK:





NOTICE:
* Disconnect and reconnect the battery between each mirror position check.
* The mirror position cannot be changed manually when the battery is connected. To change the mirror position manually, the battery must be disconnected first.
(1) If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

(c) Check the mirror position sensor.









(1) Apply battery and dry cell battery voltage to the terminals as shown in the table below.

(2) Measure the voltage when the mirror is in the fully downward and fully upward positions.

Standard voltage:





* If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

(3) Measure the voltage when the mirror is in the fully turned to the left and fully turned to the right positions.









Standard voltage:





* If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

(d) Check the mirror heater.









(1) Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(1) If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

(2) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror heater.

OK:





HINT
It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.

(2) If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

(e) Check the operation of the electrochromic outer mirror LH.









(1) Disconnect the mirror connector.

(2) Apply dry cell battery voltage (1.3 V) to the mirror and check the operation of the mirror face.

OK:





(2) If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

(f) Check the door mirror foot light.





(1) Apply battery voltage to the terminals of the connector, and check the illumination condition.





OK:





(1) If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

2. INSPECT OUTER MIRROR ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.









OK:





* If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly RH.

(b) w/ Retract Mirror:

(1) For each position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror's movement.









OK:

(d) Check the mirror heater.









(1) Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(1) If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

(2) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror heater.

OK:





HINT

(1) Disconnect the mirror connector.
