DESCRIPTION
Power is supplied to the steering pad switch assembly illumination when the light control switch is in the tail or head position.

INSEPCTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
The vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precaution for Supplemental Restraint System Service Precautions.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK ILLUMINATION
(a) Check if the illumination for the multi display assembly, steering pad switch assembly, glove box or others (transmission control switch, air conditioning control assembly, etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the tail or head position.
Result
C -- GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM
B -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE - DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY)
(a) Disconnect the C13 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK - SPIRAL CABLE)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the cruise control main switch assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the C13 display and navigation module display connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NOTICE:
The spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Refer to the pages shown in the brackets.

4. INSPECT CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the cruise control main switch assembly connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY Service and Repair
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE - SPIRAL CABLE)
(a) Disconnect the D24 display and navigation module display connector.
(b) Disconnect the C13 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the A cruise control main switch assembly connector.
(b) Connect a positive (+) lead to terminal IL+2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal EAU of the steering pad switch assembly connector.
(c) Check that the switch illumination comes on.
OK:
Steering pad switch assembly illumination comes on.
NG -- REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Problem Symptoms Table
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK - SPIRAL CABLE)
(a) Disconnect the 2F driver side junction block connector.
(b) Disconnect the C13 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM
8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE - DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK)
(a) Disconnect the D24 display and navigation module display connector.
(b) Disconnect the D5 driver side junction block connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK
