Mute Signal Circuit Between Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly and Navigation ECU
NAVIGATION: NAVIGATION SYSTEM (for DVD): Mute Signal Circuit between Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly and Navigation ECU
- Mute Signal Circuit between Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly and Navigation ECU
DESCRIPTION
Mute signals are sent via the navigation amplifier to the stereo component amplifier to mute noises that occur when muting the sound source. If the navigation system is available, the mute signal also mutes CD audio, etc. when the navigation system's voice guidance is on.
If the circuit is open: 1) noise will occur when the sound source is changed, and 2) if the navigation system is available, CD audio, etc. will not mute while the voice guidance is on.
If the circuit is shorted: 1) even if the amplifier is functioning properly, no sounds or only barely audible sounds will be output.

INSEPCTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK NAVIGATION ECU (MUT2 VOLTAGE)
(a) Measure the voltage of the ECU connector.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPLACE NAVIGATION ECU
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (NAVIGATION ECU - STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the N3 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the N6 amplifier connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK NAVIGATION AMPLIFIER (NAVO VOLTAGE)
(a) Measure the voltage of the amplifier connector.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPLACE NAVIGATION AMPLIFIER
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (NAVIGATION AMPLIFIER - STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the N6 and S23 amplifier connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
