Removal





SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT (for AWD): REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

2. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH Removal

3. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT DISC Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH Removal

6. DISCONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

7. DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM LH





(a) Remove the clip and nut.

(b) Install 2 spacers (SST spacer A) onto the front No. 2 suspension lower arm LH so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm (0.0394 in.) between the arm and spacers.

NOTICE:
* Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer A) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift.
* As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not less than 1 mm (0.0394 in.).
(c) Using SST, disconnect the front No. 2 suspension lower arm LH from the front lower ball joint assembly LH.

NOTICE:
* Do not damage the dust cover of the No. 2 lower arm.
* As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and claw are parallel.
* Make sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.
8. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE Removal

9. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH Removal

10. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH Removal

11. DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal

12. DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal

13. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

14. REMOVE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Remove the clip and nut.

(b) Install 2 spacers (SST spacer A) onto the front lower ball joint assembly LH so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm (0.0394 in.) between the arm and spacers.

NOTICE:

(c) Using SST, disconnect the lower ball joint from the lower arm.
