STEERING COLUMN: STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (Tilt Motor)

(a) Inspect the tilt motor.





(1) Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal TIM+ and a negative (-) lead to terminal TIM- of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering wheel tilts up.

OK:

The steering wheel tilts up.

(2) Connect a negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal TIM+ and a positive (+) lead to terminal TIM- of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering wheel tilts down.

OK:

The steering wheel tilts down.

2. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (Telescopic Motor)

(a) Inspect the telescopic motor.





(1) Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal TEM+ and a negative (-) lead to terminal TEM- of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering column contracts.

OK:

The steering column contracts.

(2) Connect a negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal TEM+ and a positive (+) lead to terminal TEM- of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering column extends.

OK:

The steering column extends.
