DESCRIPTION
The front controller receives dimmer switch high position information from the combination switch, and turns on the high beam headlights.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Body No. 5 / Active Test.
(e) Check the high beam headlights operate.
Body No. 5 (Front Controller)
OK:
High beam headlights illuminate.
NG -- INSPECT FUSE (H-LP UPR)
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Exterior Lighting System
1. INSPECT FUSE (H-LP UPR)
(a) Remove the H-LP UPR fuse from the No. 2 engine room relay block.
(b) Measure the resistance of the fuse.
Standard Resistance:
Below 1 Ohms
NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT CONTROLLER - BATTERY)
(a) Disconnect the 2E front controller connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT CONTROLLER - BODY GROUND)
(a) Check the wire harness between the headlight LH and front controller, and the headlight LH and body ground.
(1) Disconnect the 2G front controller connector.
(2) Disconnect the B12 headlight LH connector.
(3) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(b) Check the wire harness between the headlight RH and front controller, and the headlight RH and body ground.
(1) Disconnect the 2G front controller connector.
(2) Disconnect the B2 headlight RH connector.
(3) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE FRONT CONTROLLER (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU)
