B2059 - Vehicle Speed Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The distance control ECU uses the combination meter to send vehicle speed information to the ECM. The ECM and the skid control ECU use CAN communication to send vehicle speed information to the distance control ECU. This DTC is output when the difference between the vehicle speed information from the ECM and the skid control ECU is more than the specified value.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
* When the distance control ECU is replaced with a new one, INITIALIZATION must be performed Installation.
* When the seat belt control ECU is replaced with a new one. INITIALIZATION must be performed Pre-Collision System.
PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)

(a) Clear the DTCs Pre-Collision System.

(b) Recheck for DTCs.

OK:

CAN communication system DTC is not output.

NG -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM How to Proceed With Troubleshooting
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM)

(a) Check DTC for dynamic radar cruise control system Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System.

OK:

DTC P0500 is not output.

NG -- GO TO DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM)

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Start the engine.

(c) Drive the vehicle at a speed of 18 mph (30 km/h) or more for at least 60 seconds.

(d) Check DTC for vehicle stability control system Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

Vehicle stability control system DTC is not output.

NG -- GO TO VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.

(e) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the vehicle speed meter.

Combination Meter:





OK:

Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed.

NG -- GO TO COMBINATION METER SYSTEM
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY

(a) Replace the distance control ECU assembly Removal.

(b) Initialize the distance control ECU Installation.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM)

(a) Clear the DTCs Pre-Collision System.

(b) Recheck for DTCs.

OK:

DTC B2059 is not output.

NG -- REPLACE SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU

OK -- END
