AA80E Automatic Transmission
AA80E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM: P0617: Starter Relay Circuit High
P0617 - Starter Relay Circuit High
DESCRIPTION
While the engine is being cranked, the positive battery voltage is applied to terminal STA of the TCM.
If the TCM detects the starter control (STA) signal while the vehicle is being driven, it determines that there is a malfunction in the STA circuit. The TCM then illuminates the MIL and sets the DTC.
This monitor runs when the vehicle is driven at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) or more for over 20 seconds.

PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (STARTER SIGNAL)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Data List.
(e) Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
(f) Crank the engine.
(g) Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
OK:
NG -- INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
OK -- SYMPTOM SIMULATION AND DTC CHECK How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
(a) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
(b) Measure the resistance of the park/neutral position switch when the shift lever is moved to each position.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK TCM (STA VOLTAGE)
(a) Disconnect the TCM connectors.
(b) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard voltage:
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TCM - ST RELAY)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. REPLACE TCM
(a) Replace the TCM Service and Repair.
NEXT -- PERFORM A/T CODE REGISTRATION Registration
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TCM - ST RELAY)
(a) Disconnect the TCM connectors.
(b) Remove the ST relay from the engine room R/B.
(c) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
(d) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- CHECK CRANKING HOLDING FUNCTION CIRCUIT Cranking Holding Function Circuit
