SUSPENSION CONTROL: ADAPTIVE VARIABLE SUSPENSION SYSTEM: C1787: EMS Switch Circuit (Test Mode DTC)
C1787 - EMS Switch Circuit (Test Mode DTC)

DESCRIPTION

- The absorber control switch (EMS Switch) is a switch which selects the damping force mode of shock absorber.

- The absorber control ECU reads the changes in each signal when performing the Test Mode check and outputs the DTC (C1787) if there is no change.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
When replacing the absorber control ECU, check the acceleration sensor assembly signal after replacement Adaptive Variable Suspension System.

HINT
- Check the condition of each related circuit connector before troubleshooting Electronic Circuit Inspection Procedure.
- When C1774 is output, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by C1774 first C1774.
PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect Techstream to DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn Techstream main switch on.

(c) Select "DATA LIST" mode on Techstream Adaptive Variable Suspension System.

DATA LIST (EMS):

(d) Operate the absorber control switch and check its operation in the DATA LIST on Techstream display.

OK:

The display on Techstream changes according to the operation of the absorber control switch.

NG -- INSPECT ABSORBER CONTROL SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. RECONFIRM DTC

(a) Clear the DTC Adaptive Variable Suspension System.

(b) Perform the Test Mode Adaptive Variable Suspension System.

(c) Check if the same DTC is recorded Adaptive Variable Suspension System.

Result:

C -- END

B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

A -- REPLACE ABSORBER CONTROL ECU

3. INSPECT ABSORBER CONTROL SWITCH

(a) Remove the absorber control switch.

(b) Disconnect the absorber control switch connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE ABSORBER CONTROL SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ABSORBER CONTROL SWITCH TO ABSORBER CONTROL ECU, BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the absorber control ECU connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Resistance:

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. RECONFIRM DTC

(a) Clear the DTC Adaptive Variable Suspension System.

(b) Perform Test Mode Adaptive Variable Suspension System.

(c) Check if the same DTC is recorded Adaptive Variable Suspension System.

HINT
Reinstall the sensor, connectors, etc. and restore the vehicle to its prior condition before rechecking for DTCs.

Result:

C -- END

B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

A -- REPLACE ABSORBER CONTROL ECU
