B2216 - Back Door Closer does not Function Normally

DESCRIPTION

The luggage compartment door closer consists of: 1) the luggage compartment door closer motor, which performs opener and closer operations based on signals from the cowl side junction block ECU LH; 2) 2 position detection switches (LOPN, LCLS), which check the position of the closer motor; and 3) the luggage door courtesy switch (LCTY), which sends signals to start/stop the closer operation and illuminates the luggage room light. the door unlock switch (BDCY), which is built into the luggage compartment door striker, detects whether the luggage compartment door is open or closed, and transmits ON/OFF signals to the cowl side junction block ECU LH.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER SWITCH)

(a) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the luggage compartment door closer switch.

Cowl Side Junction Block ECU LH:





OK:

"ON" (luggage compartment door is open/closed) appears on the screen

OK -- REPLACE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ECU LH)
NG -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT FUSE (TRK OPN, MPX-B, D/C CUT)

(a) Remove the TRK OPN fuse from the cowl side junction block ECU LH.

(b) Remove the MPX-B and D/C CUT fuses from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

(c) Measure the resistance of the fuses.

Standard resistance:

Below 1 Ohms

NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)





(a) Disconnect the PM, PL, PA and PD junction block connectors.

(b) Measure the voltage and resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard voltage:





Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY - COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ECU LH AND BODY GROUND)





(a) Disconnect the Y5 closer connector.

(b) Disconnect the V3 ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER MOTOR)





(a) Remove the luggage compartment door closer.

(b) Apply battery voltage to the closer motor and check operation of the motor.

OK:





NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER SWITCH)





(a) Remove the luggage compartment door closer.

(b) Measure the resistance of the switch terminals when the switch is operated.

Standard resistance (Open switch):





Standard resistance (Closer switch):





NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY

OK -- REPLACE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ECU LH)
