B1424
AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM: B1424/24: Solar Sensor Circuit (Driver Side)
B1424/24 - Solar Sensor Circuit (Driver Side)
DESCRIPTION
The solar sensor, which is installed on the upper side of the instrument panel, detects sunlight and controls the air conditioning in AUTO mode. The output voltage from the solar sensor varies according to the amount of sunlight. When the sunlight increases, the output voltage increases. As the sunlight decreases, the output voltage decreases. The A/C amplifier detects output voltage from the solar sensor.
HINT
If DTC B1244 is output at the same time, troubleshoot DTC B1244 first.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Select the item below in the Data List, and read the display on the Techstream.
Data List / Air Conditioner:
OK:
The display is as specified in the normal condition.
Result:
C -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
A -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU
(a) Remove the cowl side junction block RH with its connectors still connected.
(b) Measure the resistance of the connector.
Standard resistance:
(c) Measure the voltage of the connector.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SOLAR SENSOR - MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU)
(a) Disconnect the L1 solar sensor connector.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
(c) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SOLAR SENSOR - A/C AMPLIFIER)
(a) Disconnect the L1 solar sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the K52 A/C amplifier connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK SOLAR SENSOR
(a) Remove the solar sensor with its connector still connected.
(b) Apply battery voltage between terminals 6 (CLTB) and 3 (CLTE) of the solar sensor.
(c) Measure the voltage of the connector.
Standard voltage:
NOTICE:
* As the inspection light is moved away from the sensor, the voltage increases.
* Use an incandescent light for inspection. Bring it about 30 cm (11.8 in.) from the solar sensor.
NG -- REPLACE SOLAR SENSOR
OK -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
