Transmission Control Switch Circuit
A761E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM: Transmission Control Switch Circuit
Transmission Control Switch Circuit
DESCRIPTION
When moving the shift lever into the S position using the transmission control switch, it is possible to switch the shift range position between "1" (1st range) and "6" (6th range).
Shifting to "+" once raises the shift range position by one, and shifting to "-" lowers the shift range position by one.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - BATTERY)
(a) Disconnect the T29 transmission control switch connector of the shift lock control unit.
(b) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - BODY GROUND)
(a) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
(a) Measure resistance between each terminal of the shift lock control unit when the shift lever is moved to each position.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECM - BATTERY)
(a) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(b) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
Standard voltage:
(c) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
(d) Disconnect the E5 ECM connector.
(e) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
