Installation








3UZ-FE EXHAUST: EXHAUST PIPE: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL CATALYST CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
(a) Install 2 new gaskets and the 2 converters with 6 new nuts.
Torque: 62 Nm (632 kgf-cm, 46 ft-lbf)
2. INSTALL NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the bracket with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
3. INSTALL EXHAUST FRONT PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Install 2 new gaskets and the exhaust pipe with the 4 nuts and 4 bolts.
Torque: 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
4. INSTALL EXHAUST CENTER PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Install a new gasket and the exhaust pipe with the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and 2 rings.
Torque: 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
5. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER
(a) Install the floor brace with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf)
6. INSTALL EXHAUST TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the 2 baffles to the tailpipe with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf)
(b) Install 2 new gaskets and the tailpipe with the 4 nuts, 4 bolts and 4 rings.
Torque: 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
7. INSTALL NO. 2 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1)
(a) Twist the sensor wire counterclockwise 3.5 turns and install the sensor.
Torque: 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
(b) After installing the sensor, check that the sensor wire is not twisted.
If it is twisted, remove the sensor and reinstall it.
8. INSTALL NO. 2 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2)
(a) Twist the sensor wire counterclockwise 3.5 turns and install the sensor.
Torque: 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
(b) After installing the sensor, check that the sensor wire is not twisted.
If it is twisted, remove the sensor and reinstall it.
9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
10. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization Repair Instruction - Initialization.
NOTE:
Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

11. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS
If gas is leaking, tighten areas as necessary to stop the leak. Replace damaged parts as necessary.
