BRAKE: REAR BRAKE: REASSEMBLY
REASSEMBLY
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. INSTALL REAR DISC
(a) Align the matchmarks and install the disc.
HINT: When installing a new disc, select the installation position where the disc has the smallest runout.
2. INSPECT DISC RUNOUT
(a) Check the bearing play in the axial direction and the axle hub runout Rear Axle Hub.
(b) Temporarily install the disc with the 5 hub nuts.
(c) Using a dial indicator, measure the disc runout 10 mm (0.394 in.) from the outer edge of the disc.
Maximum disc runout:
0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)
If the runout is more than the maximum, change the installation position of the disc so that the runout is as small as possible.
If the runout exceeds the maximum even when the installation position is changed, grind the disc.
If the disc thickness is less than the minimum, replace the disc.
(d) Remove the 5 hub nuts and disc.
3. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG
(a) Temporarily install the bleeder plug to the cylinder.
HINT: The bleeder plug will be tightened to the torque specification in the "bleed air from brake line" procedures.
(b) Install the cap.
4. INSTALL PISTON SEAL
(a) Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire inner and outer circumference of 2 new piston seals.
(b) Install the 2 piston seals to the cylinder.
5. INSTALL CYLINDER BOOT
(a) Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire inner and outer circumference of 2 new cylinder boot.
(b) Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire outer circumference of the rear disc brake pistons where it contacts the rear disc brake cylinder.
(c) Install the cylinder boots to the rear disc brake pistons.
(d) Install the rear disc brake pistons together with the cylinder boots to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
NOTE:
Do not forcibly install the piston into the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
6. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PISTON
(a) Install the cylinder boots to the disc brake cylinder.
NOTE:
Install the boot securely into the groove of the disc brake cylinder.
(b) Push in the pistons by hand and install the cylinder boots into the groove of the piston.
NOTE:
Install the boot securely into the groove of the piston.
(c) Using a screwdriver, install the 2 set rings.
NOTE:
Be careful not to damage the cylinder boot.
