BRAKE: FRONT BRAKE: REASSEMBLY
REASSEMBLY
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. INSTALL FRONT DISC
(a) Align the matchmarks and install the disc.
HINT: When installing a new disc, select the installation position where the disc has the smallest runout.
2. INSPECT DISC RUNOUT
(a) Check the bearing play in the axial direction and the axle hub runout Front Axle Hub.
(b) Temporarily install the disc with the 5 hub nuts.
(c) Using a dial indicator, measure the disc runout 10 mm (0.394 in.) from the outer edge of the disc.
Maximum disc runout:
0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)
If the runout is more than the maximum, change the installation position of the disc so that the runout is as small as possible.
If the runout is more than the maximum even when the installation position is changed, grind the disc.
If the disc thickness is less than the minimum, replace the disc.
(d) Remove the 5 hub nuts and disc.
3. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG
(a) Temporarily install the bleeder plug to the cylinder.
HINT: The bleeder plug will be tightened to the torque specification in the "bleed air from brake line" procedures.
(b) Install the cap to the bleeder plug.
4. INSTALL PISTON SEAL
(a) Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire inner and outer circumference of 2 new piston seals.
(b) Install the 2 piston seals to the cylinder.
5. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE PISTON
(a) Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire inner and outer circumference of 2 new cylinder boot.
(b) Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire outer circumference of the 2 front disc brake pistons where they contact the cylinder boots and front disc brake cylinder.
(c) Install the 2 cylinder boots to the 2 front disc brake pistons.
(d) Install the 2 front disc brake pistons together with the cylinder boots to the front disc brake cylinder.
NOTE:
Do not install the piston forcibly to the cylinder.
6. INSTALL CYLINDER BOOT
(a) Install the 2 cylinder boots into the grooves of the cylinder and piston.
NOTE:
Make sure that the boot is securely installed into the grooves of the cylinder and piston.
(b) Using a screwdriver, install the 2 set rings.
NOTE:
Be careful not to damage the cylinder boot.
