AUDIO / VISUAL: AUDIO AND VISUAL SYSTEM: SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

1. COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Components in the audio system communicate with each other through the Audio Visual Communication-Local Area Network (AVC-LAN).

(b) The receiver has a resistance of 60 to 80 Ohms, which is necessary for communication.
(c) When a short circuit or circuit breakdown occurs in the AVC-LAN circuit, the audio system does not operate normally due to the communication cut off.
2. DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
(a) The audio system has a diagnosis function. The diagnosis result is displayed on the LCD of the radio receiver.
(b) A component code (physical address), or 3 digit code (in hexadecimal), is set for each component of the AVC-LAN.
(c) The logical address, or 2 digit code (in hexadecimal), is set for each function and component unit in each component of the AVC-LAN.
3. COMPACT DISC PLAYER
(a) The Compact Disc (CD) player uses a laser beam pickup to read the digital signals recorded on CDs and reproduce analog signals of music, etc. The CD player can play 12 cm (4.7 in.) and 8 cm (3.2 in.) discs.
NOTE:
Never disassemble or apply oil to any part of the player unit.

Only insert discs into the CD player.
CAUTION:
Do not look directly at the CD player's laser beam. Be sure to only operate the player as instructed.

4. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
(a) RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (Physical address: 190) [AUDIO H/U]

HINT: Titles for each unit below are stated in the following order: part name (physical address) [name indicated by DTC].
(1) Logical address: 01 (Communication control)
HINT: Methods used to verify the cause of the problem are listed in order of probability in the verification column.

HINT:
*1: This code may be recorded depending on the battery condition or engine start voltage even if no failure is detected.
*2: If the power connector is disconnected after the engine starts, this code is recorded after 180 seconds.
*3: This code may be stored when the ignition key is turned 1 minute after engine starts.
*4: This code may be stored if the ignition key is turned again after the engine starts.
*5: If the master component power supply connector is pulled out with the ignition switch on ACC or ON, this code is stored after 210 seconds.
(2) Logical address: 62 (CD): 63 (CD changer)
HINT: Methods used to verify the cause of the problem are listed in order of probability in the verification column.

(3) Logical address: 61 (Cassette)
HINT: Methods used to verify the cause of the problem are listed in order of probability in the verification column.

(b) GATEWAY ECU (Physical address: 1C6) [G/W]
(1) Logical address: 01 (Communication control)
HINT: Methods used to verify the cause of the problem are listed in order of probability in the verification column.

HINT:
*1: This code may be stored depending on battery condition or engine start voltage even if no failure is detected.
*2: This code may be stored if the ignition key is turned again 1 minute after engine starts.
*3: This code may be stored if the ignition key is turned again after the engine starts.
*4: If the master component power supply connector is pulled out with the ignition switch on ACC or ON, this code is stored after 210 seconds.

(c) STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY (Physical address: 440) [DSP AMP]
(1) Logical address: 01 (Communication control)
HINT: Methods used to verify the cause of the problem are listed in order of probability in the verification column.
