Air Conditioning System
AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM: B1424/24: Solar Sensor Circuit (Driver Side)
DTC B1424/24 - Solar Sensor Circuit (Driver Side)
DESCRIPTION
A photo diode in the automatic light control sensor detects solar radiation and sends appropriate signals to the A/C amplifier.
HINT: When DTC B1424/24 is displayed simultaneously with DTC B1244, repair the malfunction indicated by DTC B1244 first.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DRIVER SIDE SOLAR SENSOR)
(a) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the solar sensor.
Air Conditioner
OK:
The display is as specified in the normal condition.
Result
C -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION
SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY (TSDr VOLTAGE)
(a) Remove the A/C amplifier but do not disconnect the connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(c) Measure the voltage of the connector.
Standard voltage:
HINT:
- Use an incandescent light for the inspection. Bring it within 30 cm (11.8 in.) of the solar sensor.
- The voltage will increase when the light is moved closer to the sensor.
Result
C -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION
SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR - A/C AMPLIFIER AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the A26 sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the A9 amplifier connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Disconnect the A26 sensor connector.
(b) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Result
B -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY
A -- REPLACE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR
