INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (POWER STEERING SOLENOID VALVE)
(a) Select the Active Test, use Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the power steering solenoid valve operates.

ABS/VSC/TRAC





OK:
Steering becomes tight.
OK -- REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT POWER STEERING SOLENOID VALVE




(a) Check the resistance of the solenoid.
(1) Remove the solenoid valve.
(2) Measure the resistance of the solenoid valve.
Standard resistance:





(b) Check the operation of the solenoid.
(1) Apply battery voltage to the solenoid valve connector and check operation of the power steering solenoid valve.
OK:





NOTICE:
- Do not apply voltage for more than 30 seconds to avoid burnout of the solenoid.
- When performing this step continuously, wait until the solenoid cools down enough so that it can be touched by hand.

NG -- REPLACE POWER STEERING SOLENOID VALVE
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU - POWER STEERING SOLENOID VALVE)




(a) Disconnect the S5 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the P2 valve connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU
