DTC B2521 - Roof Close Switch RH Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The roof close switch is located at the inserting hole of the pillar guide pin.
The roof close switch detects if the roof panel is fully closed or not.
The roof close switch is turned ON when the roof is fully closed and turned OFF when it is fully open.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT: Continuously repeating the roof open/close operation may stop the motor operation due to a function of the positive temperature coefficient thermistor. However, this is not a malfunction.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ROOF CLOSE RH)
(a) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the roof close RH.

OK:
On the Techstream screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.
OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (ROOF CLOSE RH)




(a) Remove the slide roof limit switch Removal.
(b) Measure the resistance of the switch.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECU - SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (ROOF CLOSE RH))




(a) Disconnect the S17 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the L9 switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH OPERATION (ROOF CLOSE RH)




(a) Disconnect the L9 switch connector.
(b) While manually operating the roof, measure the resistance of the switch Manual Open Operation.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (ROOF CLOSE RH)
OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU
