1UR-FSE EXHAUST: EXHAUST PIPE: REMOVAL

REMOVAL
CAUTION:
- The procedures should be performed by at least 2 people.
- Wear protective gloves when removing the exhaust pipe.
- The exhaust pipe is extremely hot immediately after the engine has stopped.
- Confirm that the exhaust pipe has cooled down before removing it.

1. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR Removal
2. REMOVE NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR Removal
3. REMOVE NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR
(a) Remove the 2 clips, screw and protector.
4. REMOVE NO. 5 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR
(a) Remove the 2 clips, screw and protector.
5. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH





(a) Remove the clip, nut, 2 screws, 3 bolts and cover.
6. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH





(a) Remove the clip, nut, 2 screws, 3 bolts and cover.
7. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH





(a) Remove the 3 hole seals, 4 grommets and cover.
8. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH





(a) Remove the 3 hole seals, 4 grommets and cover.
9. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE





(a) Remove the 4 bolts and brace.
10. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR COVER (for AWD) Removal
11. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 2WD)





(a) Disconnect the 2 grommets from the floor panel.
(b) Using SST, loosen the sensors, and then disconnect the sensors by hand.
HINT: Rotate the sensor counterclockwise to remove it from the front exhaust pipe, and record how many times it was rotated.
NOTE:
Do not strike the metal part of the sensor.

12. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for AWD)





(a) for Bank 1:
Disconnect the sensor connector.





(b) for Bank 2:
Disconnect the grommet from the floor panel.
Using SST, loosen the sensor, and then disconnect the sensor by hand.
HINT: Rotate the sensor counterclockwise to remove it from the front exhaust pipe, and record how many times it was rotated.
NOTE:
Do not strike the metal part of the sensor.

13. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Temporarily loosen the 8 bolts on the tailpipe and manifold sides.





(b) Remove the 4 nuts and 4 bolts from the exhaust manifold LH and RH.
HINT: During removal, hold the exhaust pipe.





(c) Remove the 4 bolts from the tailpipe LH and RH. Then remove the front exhaust pipe.
HINT: During removal, hold the exhaust pipe.





(d) Remove the 2 gaskets from the exhaust manifold side, and the 2 gaskets from the tailpipe side.
14. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for AWD)
NOTE:
Do not strike the metal part of the sensor.





(a) for Bank 1:
Using SST, loosen the sensor and then remove the sensor by hand.

15. REMOVE TAILPIPE LH





(a) Disconnect the 3 exhaust pipe support and remove the tail pipe.
16. REMOVE TAILPIPE RH





(a) Disconnect the 3 exhaust pipe support and remove the tail pipe.
17. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE DAMPER





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and exhaust pipe damper from the tailpipe LH.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and exhaust pipe damper from the tailpipe RH.
18. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.
