1UR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P1235: High Pressure Fuel Pump Circuit

DTC P1235 - High Pressure Fuel Pump Circuit

DTC P1236 - High Pressure Fuel Pump No. 2 Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The fuel pump for high pressure is attached to the insulator, which is attached to the cylinder head cover. The pump activates according to the position of the cam on the intake side camshaft (bank 1 and bank 2).
The fuel pump for high pressure increases the pressure of the fuel supplied from the fuel pump in the fuel tank to 4 to 13 MPa (40.8 to 132.6 kgf/cm2, 580 to 1885 psi) according to the operating condition, and it feeds the fuel to the fuel delivery pipe.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT: Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC

(a) Interchange the injector driver No. 1 and No. 2 Removal.
(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream ON.
(d) Clear DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
NOTE:
Before deleting the DTCs, write them down.
(e) Start the engine.
(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
(g) Read DTC.
Result:

B -- REPLACE INJECTOR DRIVER
A -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT SPILL CONTROL VALVE

(a) Disconnect the E43 or E35 spill control valve connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE FUEL PUMP FOR HIGH PRESSURE
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INJECTOR DRIVER - SPILL CONTROL VALVE)

(a) Disconnect the E16 or E28 injector driver (EDU) connector.
(b) Disconnect the E43 or E35 spill control valve connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):

No. 1

No. 2

Standard resistance (Check for short):

No. 1

No. 2

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INJECTOR DRIVER - ECM)

(a) Disconnect the E15 injector driver (No. 1) connector.
(b) Disconnect the E27 injector driver (No. 2) connector.
(c) Disconnect the E4 ECM connector.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):

Standard resistance (Check for short):

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE ECM
