Fuel Pump

4GR-FSE FUEL: FUEL PUMP: INSPECTION

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT FUEL PUMP

(a) Inspect the resistance of the fuel pump.
(1) Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
Standard resistance:
0.2 to 3.0 Ohms at 20°C (68°F)
If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump.
(b) Inspect the operation of the fuel pump.
(1) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the connector, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump operates.
NOTICE:
- These tests must be performed within 10 seconds to prevent the coil from burning out.
- Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible.
- Always turn the voltage on and off on the battery side, not on the fuel pump side.
