DTC B1630/23 - Rear Airbag Sensor RH Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The rear airbag sensor RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.
If the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether or not the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1630/23 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC




(a) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(b) Clear the DTCs stored in memory DTC Check / Clear.
(c) Turn the engine switch off.
(d) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Check the DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
OK:
DTC B1630/23 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than DTC B1630/23 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
NG -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
(a) Turn the engine switch off.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the rear airbag sensor RH.
OK:
The connectors are connected.
NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS, THEN GO TO STEP 1
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN)




(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the rear airbag sensor RH.
(b) Using a service wire, connect U13-20 (VUCR) and U13-22 (ESCR) of connector "B".
NOTE:
Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT)




(a) Disconnect the service wire from connector "B".
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO B+)




(a) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Voltage:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND)




(a) Turn the engine switch off.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH




(a) Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly.
(b) Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Clear the DTCs stored in memory DTC Check / Clear.
(f) Turn the engine switch off.
(g) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(h) Check the DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
Result:





HINT: Codes other than DTC B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
