Applicability

Introduction

Some 2007 - 2008 model year LS 460/460L and LS 600hL vehicles with climate controlled seats may exhibit a condition where the seat heater is inoperative after 5 - 10 minutes of use. The seat climate controller has been improved to correct this condition.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure

1. Remove the seat assembly.





Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

CAUTION

Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seat adjuster and seat cushion frame may injure your hands.

NOTICE
If the occupant classification ECU has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.

HINT

Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side. The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

2. Remove the seat cushion climate controller.

A. Remove the three bolts holding the climate controller.





B. Remove the tie straps holding the controller to the ducting.

3. Install the NEW seat cushion climate controller in the reverse order of removal.

4. Remove the seat back climate controller.





A. Remove the 2 screws holding the seat back in place then remove the seat back cover.





B. Remove the wire connector and the clip attaching the harness to the seat back.





C. Remove the bolts holding the seat back climate controller in place.

D. Disconnect the wire harness connector.

E. Pull the ducting in the direction of the arrow in Figure 3 to remove the seat back climate controller.

5. Install the NEW seat back climate controller in reverse order of removal.

NOTE

When installing the new seat back climate controller, use Loctite(R) Threadlocker Blue 242 or equivalent to secure the screws.

6. Reinstall the seat assembly.
