Vehicle Stability Control System (W/O VDIM)

BRAKE CONTROL: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM (w/o VDIM): CALIBRATION

CALIBRATION

1. DESCRIPTION

- After replacing the VSC relevant components or performing "Front wheel alignment adjustment", clear and read the sensor calibration data.
- Follow the chart to perform calibration.

2. OBTAIN ZERO POINT OF YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR (WHEN USING TECHSTREAM:)
NOTICE:
- While obtaining the zero point, do not vibrate the vehicle by tilting, moving or shaking it and keep it stationary. (Do not start the engine.)
- Be sure to do this on a level surface (with an inclination of less than 1 degree).

(a) Clear the zero point calibration data.
(1) Turn the engine switch off.
(2) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(3) Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position (A/T) or apply the parking brake (M/T).
(4) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(5) Operate Techstream to erase the codes (select "RESET MEMORY").
HINT: Refer to Techstream operator's manual for further details.
(6) Turn the engine switch off.
NOTE: If the engine switch is turned on (IG) for more than 15 seconds with the shift lever in the P position after zero point of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor has been cleared, only the zero point of the yaw rate sensor will be stored. If the vehicle is driven under this condition, the skid control ECU will store that zero point calibration of the acceleration sensor is not completed and will indicate that there is a malfunction in the VSC system using the indicator lights and multi-information display.

(b) Perform the zero point calibration of yaw rate and acceleration sensor.
(1) Turn the engine switch off.
(2) Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position (A/T) or apply the parking brake (M/T).
NOTE: DTCs C1210/36 and C1336/39 will be recorded if the shift lever is not in the P position (A/T) or the parking brake is not applied (M/T) Vehicle Stability Control System (w/o VDIM).
(3) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(4) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(5) Set Techstream to Test Mode (select "TEST MODE").
HINT: Refer to Techstream operator's manual for further details.
(6) After the Test Mode has been entered, keep the vehicle stationary on a level surface for 2 seconds or more.

(7) Check that the master caution indicator light blinks and "VSC TEST MODE" is displayed on the multi-information display (Test Mode).
- If the master caution indicator light does not blink and/or "VSC TEST MODE" is not displayed on the multi-information display, perform zero point calibration again.
- The zero point calibration is performed only once after the system enters the Test Mode.
- Calibration cannot be performed again until the stored data is cleared once.
(8) Turn the engine switch off and disconnect Techstream.
3. OBTAIN ZERO POINT OF YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR (WHEN USING SST CHECK WIRE)

(2) Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position (A/T) or apply the parking brake (M/T).
(3) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(4) The warning light and indicator light come on for 3 seconds to indicate that the initial check is completed.
(5) Using SST, connect and disconnect terminals TS and CG of the DLC3 4 times or more within 8 seconds.
SST: 09843-18040

(6) Check that the "CHECK VSC" is displayed on the multi-information display.

(3) Using SST, connect terminals TS and CG of the DLC3.
SST: 09843-18040
(4) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(5) Keep the vehicle stationary on a level surface for 2 seconds or more.

(6) Check that the master caution indicator light blinks and "VSC TEST MODE" is displayed on the multi-information display (Test Mode).
(7) Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the SST from the DLC3.
