Vehicle Stability Control System (W/ VDIM)
BRAKE CONTROL: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM (w/ VDIM): CALIBRATION
CALIBRATION
1. DESCRIPTION
- After replacing the VSC relevant components or performing "Front wheel alignment adjustment", clear and read the sensor calibration data.
- Follow the chart to perform calibration.
2. PERFORM YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION AND STORE SYSTEM INFORMATION (WHEN USING TECHSTREAM :)
NOTICE:
- Stored system information cannot be overwritten unless it is cleared. If any system information has already been stored, erase the stored information and then store new system information.
- While obtaining the zero point, do not vibrate the vehicle by tilting, moving or shaking it and keep it stationary. (Do not start the engine.)
- Be sure to do this on a level surface (with an inclination of less than 1 degree).
(a) Clear the zero point calibration data and system information.
NOTE: Performing the following procedure will clear the zero point of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor, and also system information simultaneously.
(1) Turn the engine switch off.
(2) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(3) Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position.
(4) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(5) Operate Techstream to erase the codes (select "RESET MEMORY").
HINT: Refer to Techstream operator's manual for further details.
(6) Turn the engine switch off.
NOTE: If the vehicle is driven after the zero point of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor and system information is cleared, DTCs will be stored.
(b) Perform the yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration and store system information.
NOTE: Performing the following procedure will perform the yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration, and also store system information simultaneously.
(1) Turn the engine switch off.
(2) Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position.
NOTICE:
- DTCs C1210/36 and C1336/98 will be recorded if the shift lever is not in the P position Vehicle Stability Control System (w/ VDIM).
- If a DTC is stored that indicates zero point calibration is incomplete, repeat the procedure starting at the step for clearing the zero point calibration data and system information.
(3) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(4) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(5) Set Techstream to Test Mode (select "TEST MODE").
HINT: Refer to Techstream operator's manual for further details.
(6) After the Test Mode has been entered, keep the vehicle stationary on a level surface for 2 seconds or more.
(7) Check that the master caution indicator light blinks and "VSC TEST MODE" is displayed on the multi-information display (Test Mode).
- If the master caution indicator light does not blink and/or "VSC TEST MODE" is not displayed on the multi-information display, perform zero point calibration again.
- The zero point calibration is performed only once after the system enters the Test Mode.
- Calibration cannot be performed again until the stored data is cleared once.
(8) Turn the engine switch off and disconnect Techstream.
3. PERFORM YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION AND STORE SYSTEM INFORMATION (WHEN USING SST CHECK WIRE:)
NOTICE:
- Stored system information cannot be overwritten unless it is cleared. If any system information has already been stored, erase the stored information and then store new system information.
- While obtaining the zero point, do not vibrate the vehicle by tilting, moving or shaking it and keep it stationary. (Do not start the engine.)

(1) Turn the engine switch off.
(2) Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position.
(3) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(4) The warning light and indicator light come on for 3 seconds to indicate that the initial check is completed.
(5) Using SST, connect and disconnect terminals TS and CG of the DLC3 4 times or more within 8 seconds.
SST: 09843-18040
(6) Check that the "CHECK VSC" is displayed on the multi-information display.

- The zero point calibration is performed only once after the system enters the Test Mode.
- Calibration cannot be performed again until the stored data is cleared once.
(7) Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the SST from the DLC3.
